ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS
We all face moments where we are able to see what is really in our hearts. The Bible tells us that sometime after John the Baptist introduced Jesus to the multitudes, it was brought to John's attention that many of his followers, and even some of his disciples, were leaving to go follow Jesus now. Although the whole purpose of John's ministry was to prepare the people for this moment, what would have happened if he had let pride get into his heart, or a desire for others to follow him get in the way of putting Jesus first? John could have viewed this as a loss to himself, but we see through his response that what came out of his heart was a pure desire for God's glory alone. He had committed his life to serving Jesus and was able to rejoice even as his own ministry came to a close, holding it all with an open hand to God. Read John's beautiful response in the verses below.
John answered and said, "A man can receive nothing unless it has been given from heaven. You yourselves bear witness that I said, 'I am not the Christ,' but 'I have been sent before Him.' He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled. He must increase, but I must decrease."
John 3:27-30 NKJV
ANNOUNCEMENTS
- This Thursday (June 15th) is Seniors' Breakfast! Join us at the Nord-Bridge Seniors Centre at 9:30 am! Note: there will be no Seniors' Breakfasts happening in July or August.
- The Baby Bottle Campaign is ending! Please bring your baby bottles back this Sunday so that we can return them to the Lethbridge Pregnancy Care Centre next week!
- Our Dads' Movie Night is happening this Sunday at 6:30 pm for Fathers' Day! Bring your families and join us for door prizes, snacks, and a fun and encouraging movie night!
- We're having another Hymn Sing on Wednesday, June 21 at 6:30 pm! Come out and sing some hymns with us!
- Remember, if you have a testimony to share, send us a 2-3 minute video of yourself telling it (info@onelifechurch.ca), and we'd love to share it at one of our Sunday services!
